Air flow meter

Hi A quick question regarding a diesel 420 Rover which is low on power. If its the air flow meter can I eliminate this by disconnecting the electrical connection and if it runs the same its the air flow meter at fault? Regards David

Tried same on a diesel 25 (last Friday) and the power was back to 100%+ with cable disconnected. HTH Al
