Anyone tried AUTO-RX additives to stop oil leaks?

The Auto-RX website says an engine needs the additive for 2500 miles, then an oil change with only fresh oil (no synthetic), and then another 3000 miles, for a main seal leak to stop.

Doesn't make sense --- if the additive is some kind of cleaner, how would it stop a leak? If you need to change out the additive and put in only new oil, how does the leak-stopping happen?

2500 to 5000 miles seems a long time for a rear main seal leak to become plugged

those additives tend to swell the seal rubber slightly, so they won't help with a damaged or seriously worn seal. I have seen some reduction in oil leaks when I tried it on an old oily engine.

Thanks --- that explains it. As far as I can tell, the deaded REAR MAIN SEAL job is for newer more expensive vehicles with wealthy owners

--- "Oil is cheaper than parts" still remains the motto for ordinary folk like me.

Well if it neads a new clutch then it's worth doing at the same time, of if it's at thre point where you're a hazard to other road users.

The cost isn't in the parts - it's in the labour.
