Back again.

Wotcha all,

Been some while now since I last posted here, but I have had some changes, and kinda missed it here.

Since I last posted, I have moved from the Fiat/Alfa dealer in Hertfordshire, and have moved house to Durham. I work at a Honda main dealer in Newcastle now.

For those here that don't know me, I have been in the trade for 24 years, and have worked in the workshop, parts and service reception in that time. I am also very experienced in warranty procedures.

As for marques, I started with Peugeot in the early 80's, and then onto Honda. In the past I had experience working on, and with, Jaguar, Rover, BL, Nissan and a few Rolls Royces too. More recent years I have been working on Fords, and administering for Fiat/Alfa, Hyundai and Seat, and now working full time for Honda again.

If you need any advice about main dealers, or manufacturers warranty, and any of the makes I've dealt with, feel free to ask me, or email me directly.

Regards.

Andy.

I thought you were in a dodgy position giving advice out due to a 'professional interest'?

Still, good to see you back on a cage group as well as UKRM.

Now, about my 155.... ;-)

Welcome back, (From one who only lurks these days...)

Aye, that is so. There are conflicting laws now though, one says I am liable if I give out info, but another says the consumer has a right to the info - go figure.

I'm happy to ffer advice where I can though, and can probably help on a one-to-one basis as well.

Cheers.

Feck orf :-P

That is very sad :-)

However, IIRC I still posted right on to about January 2003.

Smartarse.

I feel at home already :-)

Heh.

I have to be honest, the 75 and 155 are the 2 best cars we've had so far. 10k miles up on the 155 this week since April, and all it's cost me is a set of tyres to replace the Cheng Shins that were on it when I bought it. 75 had a proper gearbox rebuild, but that was from choice. Old Alfas rock :-)

You're not wrong there to be honest. They stopped being any good in about 1996 though.

Which is about when the 16v TS engines came in.... bloody Fiat, that was.

I'm still waiting for a really nice 155 Widebody 8v to come up for sale locally - but ISTR the production span of that was around 4-6 months, so they're rare as the proverbials :-(

You for leaving it so long, or me for knowing?? Probably both!!

AFAIK, not unless you changed your header settings

Always was, and will be:-))

Mostly for you knowing ;-)

Blimey, you're right a quick Google search confirms that much, I didn't realise it'd been that long.

Ah, that's the motor trade for you ;-)

2.0, yes - but the 1.8 remained 8v for a while after the widebody came in - I had a P-reg 1.8 16v, one of the very first the dealer (Coupers in St Albans) had seen.

Here's one, now you've joined Honda. Is there anywhere I can buy Honda parts cheaper than the dealers in the UK? At the moment I tend to order from the US if it's an expensive part. e.g. a window regulator which was listed at £280 from a UK dealer was only £80 including shipping from the US.

Don't get me wrong - I like the dealers for servicing etc., but when bits need replacing things start to get a bit steep.

The 1.8 8v couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding - mainly because it doesn't have the funky VVT of the 2lt.

If you're having an old Alfa 8v lump you defnintely want the full-fat

2lt, although even that is a tad underpowered in the heavy 155 shell - the same engine in the 75 is a lot more lively.

Heh, that's my old patch :-)

Blimey, what was that for then? We've been fitting them here and the Accord ones are about £80.

No worse than anything else now IME. If you buy a lot of parts, I can certainly help with discount.

Indeed, if anybody is near to me, I can arrange very good prices for servicing and repairs.

Sir needs a 12v V6 3ltr in there :-)

Hmmmm. Not so sure about that. Opinion seems to be split on them, as the

2lt is a lot lighter and the car 'feels' better balanced.

Oh, OK then, I'd have one for the noise alone.

I know... You may even be the guy that told me the exhaust was on back order from Italy when the back box fractured at 6,000 miles...
