Best place to get an MOT done?

Which is entirely what the MOT's about.

When you looked while it was on the ramp, could you see anything?

Get it up in the air, wheel off, big axle stands, grovel about in the much, and get your head, a torch and a lever right up in there. Just like you would with it on a ramp, but with an unpleasant amount of space between car and ground.

I didn't get an opportunity to inspect on the ramp, I did it at home trying to feel any play my rocking the wheel around. I guess my method was wrong.

Incidentally, I did get the wishbones and bushes back when they replaced them. I couldn't see anything wrong with them - not the extent they suggested at least, and as I say, I couldn't feel any play.

I'll try that next time...

Thanks

David

It's not impossible that they were trying it on - but, equally, they do go fairly frequently on 306s & ZXs/Xsaras.

Would you expect to see new bushes fail in 24 months / 20k miles?

Depends.

If they weren't fitted properly, so that they were under stress whilst at rest, and/or if the car was used on very poor road surfaces, and/or they were cheap shit pattern bushes - then it's certainly not impossible.

You can't spot them with a ramp.
