bonnet opening lever

Hi,

The bonnet open handle (RHS of drivers footwell) for my Corsa B (97) is getting to the stage where I need to pull it fully and it only releases the bonnet catch at the very top of the action whereas it did it early previously.

I imagine the cable is working loose or has stretched a bit.

Is there anything I can do to fix this before it goes and any idea how long/difficult it is to do?

TIA

LL

look near the catch under the bonnet and you will find there is a cranked bit of metal that secures the cable outer, the screw may be loose or the metal bit needs reshaping, tha cable should be pulled back away from the catch till you see the release start to move then reclamp the outer cable.

I put a Scotchlok connector on mine and that has worked for four years.

Open the bonnet and get a friend to pull the lever. Where the bonnet catch drops down into the metalwork at the front of the car you can see the cable moving, and pulling the release catch. Stick a Scotchlok connector (basically it's a wiring connector that clips over a wire, larger ones will fit the bonnet release cable) at the end of the cable, after the release catch, so that when the bonnet lever is pulled the Scotchlok pulls against the release catch. This effectively extends the cable.
