Can anyone tell me whether the 2litre Nissan Primera Sport (year 2000) has a cambelt or camchain? If it is a belt, what are the service intervals?

Chain. Lasts 250,000m plus, no servicing required. A couple of seconds of chain noise at start up is normal by the way, if it lasts longer than that then there's probably cheap oil been used or not changed for ages. Nothing much else to do on the engine either, just oil and air filters, oil, antifreeze, plugs. The hardest routine engine job that may need doing if it gets noisy is the steering pump belt (lousy access).
