Pretty sure it's a chain.

Depends what engine. Got a feeling the VVTi petrols have a belt, but a little while back on here, people seemed to concluded that the 1.4 D4D is chain-driven, but the bigger D4D engines (1.9 or 2 litre, as in the Corolla Verso) are belt-driven.

:-)

The latest bigger D4D engine, the 2.2 which replaced the 2 litre, is chain driven though.

Wife's Y reg T sport was a chain cam.

Funny that, 'cos Vauxhall made exactly the same change from the 2 litre Ecotec to the 2.2. Could it possibly be that manufacturers of cheap problematic cambelt/tensioner designs are *finally* realising it's a false economy??

Strange - my Y reg T sport was a belt, or that's what it said in the service schedule.

No, they changed because to sell cars in the US the engine has to go for 100,000 miles with no attention to the valvetrain, this is very difficult to achieve with a belt.

That's funny, Ford seem to manage it with a problem :-)

OOPS! Clearly that should have said "...without a problem".
