Mondeo locking probs/upgrade...

Hi,

Got a 95 mondeo 1.8LX

Every year, about November, the driver's door lock stops setting the double lock and alarm (and won't deactivate the alarm).... So I use the passenger door lock..no problem....until today.

Neither lock will deactivate the alarm, now, nor double lock the car or set the alarm. Something feels bust in the passenger door lock.

I yanked the "siren" wire and can use the car, bar the double lock and alarm.

As I can't be arsed to piss about replacing locks, my question is:

Is there an easily fitted upgrade available to convert to remote locking. Hopefully to arm/disarm the alarm, too.

As the car is not worth a whole heap, much more than £50 is too much.

TIA

Its the swiches in the door locks - My Mondeo gives similar problems. Fortunately I can use the remote, so have been able to avoid doing the door switches.

As Paul said, go to the Mirez site and work through the tests - the system is pretty good at isolating which switches. We can then either get them new or from a scrappie. Probably less hassle than a separate alarm.

Oops ... I meant YOU can get them from Ford or a scappie!!!!!

Thanks!

Had a look, very useful... one job I can do in the meantime is the variable intermittent wiper mod.

Thought so - went to my bruv and pinched his Haynes - he sold his mondy about 5 years ago.

Tried last night (but without the horn). No joy - however the alarm has never sounded the horn on setting.......?

Do you have a remote key, or a separate fob? Wonder if any type of IR receiver will do? I could save some messing, if I could site one on top of the dash...

If its a key, I should be able to "program" it to my ignition switch, yes?

Having trouble finding new prices - any idea?

Are you saying that your normal car horn doesn't work? Do you hear a horn when you press the bonnet plunger switch 8 times within 10 seconds?

Mine doesn't sound the horn on setting, but it worked for the mirez tests.

Alarm horn has never sounded on setting. Sounds when set off, of course.

Disconnected, at the moment, so I can use the car without sounding like I've nicked it.

Ah... that helps.

Probably need to nip down to Mum's Mansion to mess with it. I'm surrounded by shift workers and bolshy sods, here...
