Citroen service and warranty

You can get it serviced anywhere "Reputable" as long as they follow Citroen's schedule and use genuine Citroen parts, without affecting warranty. Our Citroen, Iveco, Mercedes and VW vans are all serviced by one local independent. The Transit Connects will follow as soon as the free servicing runs out.

My Pug 206 SW with the same engine as your Xsara cost £122 for the 12k (main dealer in Surrey,) £110 for the 24k and £164 for the major 36k (both at a Worcestershire main dealer.) I'll grant you that mine has not needed any brake pads yet, but the 36k still included a brake fluid flush and all filters for that money. At £300 a visit I'd certainly be looking for another dealer - maybe a Peugeot one :-) where all the parts will be "genuine" to Citroen & Peugeot!

I was under the impression that the first 12 months of warranty were provided by Citroen, and the subsequent 24 months by the UK dealer network and that it was a condition of their warranty that the servicing in years 2 & 3 were carried out by the main dealer network. Has this been deemed unfair now? I know a mate of mine runs a few Renault vans and they are serviced by an independent using Renault parts. He's not only had one minor skirmish with the main dealer/Renault over a warranty claim, but as his vans average about 75k per annum and the warranty expires at 120k it's all a bit immaterial!

Cambridge. My mate getting his Laguna with 18k intervals done for £125 made me think I am getting ripped off!

Citroen a 'kin expensive for anything, bar one or two odd bits like oil filters. They wanted £450 to replace a clutch on a BX which I got done for £180 locally. Check with the Citizens Advice Bureau or if you're with someone like the RAC they do legal advice.
