My money would be on the fact that it's intended to work on a noisy shop-floor. I'd be willing to bet that a mic and laptop would work quite happily in a quiet DIY garage, but add in a couple of running engines, a compressor, an air-tool or two, the odd dropped spanner and a generous helping of Chris Moyles... Then it'd be a different story.

The camshaft pulley part number should finish with AC. Was having a look on Autodata, and it explicitly states that the manual tensioner used on the early models should be replaced. As for the special tools required, these can be bought from a good motor factors. All you're looking for is a timing pin kit If you really want the genuine ford ones, then most are supplied by SPX, which is where the dealers have to buy the tools. One last thing, ford finis codes are all 7 digit. The 6 digit codes you probably have are the SPX or the other maker who's name escapes me at the moment numbers
