clio exhaustion lamp flickers?

clio2/1.2 exhaust problem indicator lamp (to the left on the dashboard )flickers/stays on and also the engine is kind of lacking power and not working smooth when cold-are the older sparks the problem and if so what tool to use to unscrew them? I did try unpluging one by one spark with engine running and since each affected the engine none of them is completely at fault

Make sure you ground your spark plugs/leads when pulling a lead off as you can damage the ignition components by just letting them sit anywhere.

But it sounds like you have a more serious problem - your exhaust light, i would assume, is a CAT temp sensor? IF its coming on its because the cat is overheating, usually due to running very rich due to a misfire or incorrect air measurement, or maybe a coolant temp sensor going bad.

As a side note; you shouldn't just disconnect the HT lead on a car fitted with a catalytic convertor. You could end up with two cylinders pumping neat petrol down the exhaust, and into the cat.

A just as effective way of determining a faulty sparker is to disconnect the fuel injector. That way fuel isn't being injected and the ignition system doesn't take undue strain.
