I found the page telling me where it is.
Just spent 30 minutes looking for it....

end of the engine by the gearbox, just to the side of the oil filter (from the autodata illustration for a 1.5dci clio)

"end of the engine" - is this the front - as I am looking at it with the bonnet open - or the back ??

the engine goes across the engine hole, the bit to the right of centre is where the gearbox is, the tall bit is the engine, at the area where it joins the low bit is where the number should be.
