Hi,
I've just had my downpipe replaced by a garage (yeah, lazy I know, but you should have seen the state of the studs on the cat!).
Anyhow, while watching them I noticed a couple of things:
1/ They reused the old gaskets
2/ They used copper grease to coat the gaskets before replacing them
Is copper grease ok to use for this purpose? I know many compounds will shag the cat if used upstream of it?
And is it normal/correct to reuse the gaskets? I suspect not, and the fact that the exhaust is now blowing at the top of the downpipe kind of confirms that...
Cheers, Andy.
