Fctory Fit LPG Conversion to Vauxhall Combo 1.6 Problems.

Hi

I have recently purchased a Vauxhall Combo 1.6 Van.

The Van Is Fitted with a factory fitted LPG kit. However I have not been supplied with any sorts of instructions for the LPG gear. So I am not sure what it is telling me with the various flashing lights and what not.

When I first start the van with in gas mode, it runs on petrol for a few seconds until it reaches a predetermined temperature and it switches over to gas with a clunk. While it is running on petrol and in gas mode a small green light on the changeover switch flashes. Once the change-over has occurred the green light normally goes off.

However yesterday I was driving the van when I noticed that the green light had begun to flash having been off previously while running on gas. Once I flicked the switch to petrol and then back to gas it ran fine on gas for a few mins, then the green light came on solid (not flashing). Again flicking the switch to petrol and back cured this for a few mins until I gave it a bootful and the light started flashing and it changed over to petrol. This continued to happen until I got home, the changeover could almost be described as occurring when you kickdown in an automatic.

Has anyone any ideas what might be going on?

LPG Tank about 3/8s full and petrol about 1/4.

The only thing that has happened out of the ordinary was that it got quite hot while I was stuck in traffic however the fan cut in well before the red on the temp gauge and the temperature was back to normal when all this kicked off.

Does anyone know of any online guides for the VX LPG stuff?

Thanks

Use a penetrating oil like Liquid Wrench. Let it sit for a while and tap the bolt with a hammer. I fit doesn't budge, repeat as necessary. The top bolt is just an adjustment for the belt tension. The lower is the actual attachment bolt.

I have now managed to read the codes for the LPG thing, by connecting the grey wire on the LPG diagnostic 4pin plug to earth and putting the ignition on.

I get one flash followed by a two further flashes = Code 12.

Can anyone tell me what code 12 means? & More importantly some background on how to fix it!

Tom

Can't suggest a fix for the problem, but code 12 means diagnostic start and diagnostic end. I.e it will flash 12 twice, then pause, and continue to do so until you remove the earth.

If it flashes 12 twice together, there's no fault codes stored.

Is that on the engine side or the Gas side?

It has been suggested to me that it means vaporiser temperature sensor whiteout.

Anyways I have now found out the following....(posted elsewhere)

=============== My system is returning to the petrol mode for no apparent reason without me switching it over. Sometimes the green light starts to flash on the button, sometimes it stays on constantly.

I have read the fault codes by grounding the grey wire in the 4pin connector, the lamp flashes

1-2-4-1 1-2-4-1 1-2-4-1

I cant seem to find any explanation for these codes anywhere.

I have replaced a vacuum hose that goes from the inlet manifold to what I think is the evaporator, this has caused a very unstable switch over from petrol to gas, the engine almost stalls and sometimes does stall when it switches to gas.

When I stop the car after driving on gas there is a light smell of gas around the van. ============
