how about cheap oil and a good long run (AKA an italian service:) , oil change, good long run As much as I am a believer in oil flush as a precaution/prevention of issues in such cases as others have said it can dislodge a lot of s*1t (sorry technical term)

That is exactly what I have been doing and after this thread intend to contine. Oil change, then a 200 mile run to London and back, then another oil change. Seems to be helping and certainly won't do any harm.
