Hello

I have a '04 Golf and noticed when changing gears the motion is feeling a bit less than smooth.

My next step should be?

Many thanks

ensure the clutch is fully disengaging and is correctly used.

not srue why I bothered... zzzz

Well clutch plate drag is the most likely cause that'll be worth fixing.

Mechanically unskilled often haven't a clue when a clutch is dragging - especially with many cars having synchro on reverse these days. So it is a very valid diagnosis.

Don't bother next time then. You got a sensible answer: it's the most likely problem. The next most likely is a change linkage that needs adjusting.

followed by the DMF (he forgot the info. that it is a diesel)

Ditto! you come and ask a question and get a question from who I consider one of the resident experts and a nice guy and you get a reply like that pffft .. take it to a garage and pay for a diagnosis chap!

Evening Chris :)
