Granada Scorpio Cutting Out

I have a 1994 Granada Scorpio 2.9 which started cutting out whils

runing. The fault was traced to the power feed to the tank fuel pump should be 12 volts but when fault occured dropped to about 7.5 volt which is not enough for the pump to run! A get me home dodge has bee fitted in the form of a tap from the rear side light feed to the cu out module in the boot. All this means is that if the fault occurs which it will, fitting the fuse into the get me home circuit an turning on the side lights gets things going again The relay which controls the 12 volt feed (number 17 in the left han fuse box) checks out on resistance readings when out of the car and ca be seen to pull in when the ignition is turned on, where does it ge it's turn on command from? the Haynes workshop manual does not cove this part of the electrics Now for the question....... does anyone know which part(s) to point th accusing finger at

Thanks in advanc

Something somewhere is going high resistance. Not the control to the relay as it will either be on or off. It could be the relay itself, the relay socket or one of the connections from the battery to the relay and from the relay to the fuel pump. Or possibly the fuel pump starting to go short circuit or a shorted winding on the motor or something.

You could try putting a meter on the fuel pump and then waggle and thump any wires and what have you. Hopefully that would show a fault. My money would be on the relay BICBW

Got a feeling it's the same fault that my old Sierra 2.8 had. check the wires into the pump, you'll find the terminals look all right, but look at the cable just under the sleeving, and they'll be corroded to hell.
