Immobilser problem

Jan 08, 2005 2 Replies

My friends TVR 350i wedge refuses to start The neon indicator on the immobiliser appears to be functioning correctly but although the engine turns over on the key there is no supply to the ignition coil and the fuel pump does not run when the ignition is switched on. The immobiliser is a Toad Powerkey and both the transponder key fobs give the same results

Any suggestions as to where to start investigating will be very welcome

Regards and TIA

If it's the same as my SD1 EFI, the fuel pump is controlled by a relay. This is switched by either the AFM flap moving off the rest position, or when cranking, but not with just the ignition on. I fitted one of my immobiliser circuits in this relay coil feed. On the SD1, it's located on the passenger side bulkhead along with the other EFI relays. It should be obvious if the wiring has been altered given the standard of most alarm installations. The ignition mod I'm not sure about - I just immobilised the starter, not the ignition. But I'd guess a look at either the coil or ignition switch as these would be the most likely place to cut into the wiring. Look for wires of different colours joining.

If it helps, the pump relay coil circuit wire colours are white/purple, the ignition switch to coil, white.

Thanks Dave ... will pass on the info
