i have made a claim to Axa becuse some lowlife pranged my car (parked) on Christmas Eve,denting both doors on one side and then drove off...It was reported to the police and he admitted that he was responsible for the accident and that he thought it was a skip.!!! .No charges were a result ..
I had to escalate the report to a claim as the cops wouldnt tell me the other persons details nor his insurance company ..I have had the damage estimated by Axa'a approved repairer but they phoned today to say they want an engineer to see it next week........I find this rather ominous but they muttered something about heir repirrs having a limited discretion as to how much they can go ahead on ...
The car,a '96 1.8 Mondeo Verona with 48000 miles was involved in a similar incident ( again parked) in November when a guy scraped it when revesing .he admitted it and his insurer Admiral admitted liabilty by letter and arranged repairs ( £659) ...Because of this second accident they eventually paid me a cash settlement of £525 for the cost of repairs ( they deducted vat and the cost of 2 door rubbing strips)....
Is the engineers visit an ominous thing or am I worrying unduly ...If push comes to shove I am not accepting that the car be written off as uneconomical to repair and will insist either that I claim directly with the 3rd Party insurers or Axa do it on my behalf ...
