The former is the usual method for producing leaded petrol.... given that crude doesn't contain any lead to 'refine'.

You jest ;-) I mean, do they refine the raw petrol?
Have no idea. I'll ask the geezer at the local when I next go down there. I wold like to be adding the lead myself though, TEL is absorbed through the skin and is toxic to say the least so if there is a large drum in the corner I'll start getting worried!
It is illegal to sell petrol in the European Union containing lead.
They're all on that site. The couple I've seen on there that I know, sell LRP, not true leaded 4*.
It's LRP. It is not true leaded 4*.
Ooh...look at this. A document from the Govt stating it is illegal to sell leaded petrol after 1/1/2000
You're the tit.
From 1 January 2000, leaded petrol was banned. from general sale in the UK under the EC Fuels. Directive 98/70
Because it is LRP unless they're breaking the law.
So they're breaking the law then?
Or are they just advertising it on the pumps as 4*?
Is that the original leaded 4*? No. It's a fuel that complies with the current EU legislation. It is NOT the same as the original 4*.
READ THIS FUCKWIT:
EC Fuels. Directive 98/70
Illegal to sell leaded fuel after 1/1/2000
Ooh...look at this. Conor quotes an OFT (!?!) report from March 1998 when the regulations were changed after that.
Time to stop digging.
Easy Conor, Your wrong here, check it out before replying.......

With an exception..... 1% (ISTR) of all petrol sales can be leaded to cater for classic car enthusiasts with cars that will only run on 4 star.
Except for a licensed amount for specialist use. Bayford Thrust was the only company to apply for a licence, so they have the full allowance.
NOW READ WHAT IT SAYS ON THE SITE FOR FUCK'S SAKE
It's too late tit-wise, but you might find something out!
LRP has been phased out over the last couple of years - I don't know of anywhere that is still selling it. (Thank goodness - it was dire!)
"Did you know that genuine leaded fuel has an average octane rating (ron) of 99.7 That means you can advance the timing and raise the compression ratio or turbo boost higher with leaded petrol than is possible with unleaded or LRP, without detonation. That equals more power from your engine. If you are involved in racing where seconds count, that could be the edge you are looking for."
"May 1998"
Ooh... look - an OUT OF DATE document!
Read their site.
Read their site.
It's true leaded 4*. It is not LRP.
Try the technical specification - does the word "LEAD" mean anything to you?

I'd suggest you get your MP or a lawyer onto it if you think Bayford Thrust are lying.

No they are not breaking the law. They are licensed to produce leaded petrol.
Conor seems to have gone quiet.
