Micra exhaust split!

Oct 04, 2005 4 Replies

My trusty Micra K11 '93 has a neat split in the centre pipe of the exhaust. The rear silencer looks like it's got to go too. Is there somewhere (on the net) that sells such exhausts? - as the dealer prices are pretty high. Any things to watch out for getting the bolts off the front of the middle pipe - where it joins the Cat? They look nicely rusted in there (and I haven't done this job before! :-) Thanks

Bosal exhausts are available online from:

You go to a Nissan dealer for an exhaust? Why not your local tyre and exhaust place?

Surely it would be cheaper from a local tyre/exhaust specialist? IME the cost of having them fitted isn't worth the hassle of d-i-y, especially where rusted bosts are concerned. They have the ramp, all the right tools, and the oxy torch. Have you?

Plus you get a guarantee, so if it comes loose again they'll fix it.

I got one from the exaustshack that "NT" mentioned. The price was 1/3 the dealer price even including postage! (I wasn't going to get one from the dealer anyway

- just exclaiming about them). It arrived the very next next day, included ALL the extra bits I needed, sealing ring gaskets etc. I bought a £10 nutsplitter which I get to keep of course :-) and used it to free the cat end. Dropped the entire section inc silencer, bolted the new one on and it worked perfectly. No oxy torch needed (in this case) and I've saved £100-£150 and the jobs done right. Took me 1 1/2 hours as I took it easy. I can recommend exhaustshack
