modeo diesel not starting

Hi all, I have a problem with a 1994 mondeo turbo diesel, one day it was driving fine and the next it refused to start. there was no indication of any mechanical failure when driving. I have checked the glow plugs checked for air leaks, the cambelt is intact and renewed the glow plug cable, it seems as if there is no fuel getting to the injectors. I have removed the stop solenoid wire and checked that it is clicking with the ignition on. any ideas would be appreciated.

You say the belt is intact, but is it still turning? I have seen these with a good belt, but no rotation, the bottom pulley has become loose and is rotating on the nose of the crank.

if it is all turning ok, then I would use a jumper cable to ensure that the glow plugs are pulling power and warm them up for a few seconds and try again. In cold weather many diesels won't even start to cough without heater plugs.

Did you check the manual fuel primer on to of the fuel filter. I had loads of fun and games with that problem on the Mondeo that I had a few years ago. It looked ok but ehen I replaced the car was back to normal.

has this model got PATS? look at the LED next to the clock is it flashing rapidly? also check the wiring underneath the fuel pump for chaffing through

I have checked the fuel filter pump it seems to ok, and the heater plugs (with a jump lead), I have not checked if the pully has come loose though, I will have to check this out would it not have caused misfiring though? the wiring I will have to check. I have also removed the stop solinoid and checked if it was sticking but that seems ok. It has not got PATS, and the ford alarm has been bypassed. Regards Mawy

Is the injector pump turning, as it is on a separate belt it is possible to lose the pump but still have the cam turning !!
