mondeo tddi temp gauge

hi , ive got mondeo tddi used as a taxi , problem is the temp gauge lowers to almost cold when car should be normal, even after say 3 hr driving temp just drops to cold then after a while returns to normal . its a 51 plate , weather not to cold 10c , no other problems . is this harming engine ?? or what causing it ? thanks

sounds like you need a new thermostat, it will do damage if you leave it for too long, but don't panic about getting it done today.
