Mystery Switch on Peugeot 306

Nov 27, 2006 2 Replies

Hi,

I've just bought a 1993 306 1.6 XT. There is a switch with a symbol of an up-arrow and a down-arrow on top of each other with an X in between (if that makes any sense).

Looks a bit like this but 90 degrees to the right, my ascii art skills are a bit limited :)

I have no idea what it does, it lights up when I switch it on but doesn't appear to operate anything I can detect.

The switch is located between the ignition and the door directly under the dimmer control for the instrument panel .

Don't think it's anything to do with headlight dipping as that is a separate control which is blanked out as it isn't fitted on my model.

Has anybody got a similar model who can shed a bit of light on this? Probably something dead obvious but I'm feeling a bit thick tonight :p

Thanks a lot for your help Tom

If you have electric back windows, assuming it is a 4 door, it could be to lock out the windows switches on the back doors. Just a guess though.

Your guess was spot on. Thanks a lot Stuart.

How disappointing, I was expecting some exciting James Bond Style gadgetry :)

Regards, Tom
