Hi all,
A couple of hundred miles ago, I had two new outer CVJoints replaced on my Mondeo ST200. Recently when turning left (not a little, but not full lock either), theres a 'noise'.
So I jacked the car up yesterday to have a look, and found the following. Not sure if they are problems or not.
1) When the near side wheel is spun, I can hear what sounds like the bearings in the CVJoint 'dropping'. its not a seriously loud noise, but I can hear it. I've not had chance to test the far side to see if the same happens. Is this normal? Should CVJoints make a 'slight' noise?
2) When the wheel is 'angled', obviously the gaitor is 'squished' a bit. Simple spinning the wheel results in a noise. Wetting the gaitor with a bit of water seems to reduce the noise. I think this is the noise that I originally heard which forced the investigation. Do new gaitors 'squeek' ?
Is there a bedding in period with this type of work? I've done about
500 miles+ since having this work done, so I would've thought that any period would have been met thought, yes?
Thanks for any help.
