So do I, but this ZX liked to snap round pretty quick with the tyres that were on it, and I also prefer rear wheel drive when the back does go. You aren't going to get the same level of grip from a tyre that lasts 20,000 as one that lasts 2000, so the reason they have different treadware numbers is simply they have different design criteria.

That's true I know nothing about trained Monkeys but I do know about tyres, although I sometimes change tyres I also employ 6 tyre fitters.

I've had both of those on a car, and they both wear quite fast, but the Yoko's faster. Good grip though.

Kumho make several different types of tyre, to say that Kumho are s*it because the type you had did not suit your car/driving style is not fair on the brand of Kumho. The KU31 will out grip almost any other brand of tyre, the 769 ( as fitted by Volkswagen) on the other hand is a good high mileage tyre but is not aimed at the boy racer market, the KU15 is a road legal track-day tyre and sticks like s*it to a blanket but is not so good at mileage.

I didn't actually say they are all s*it, I said *these ones* are- and they are bad. I'll have a look later to see what model they are. Admittedly, they are probably cheap, but would the size (185/50 14 IIRC) have a bearing on how 'sporty' or not they are?

To be fair, they're not as bad as ones you've never heard of, but they don't half break away easy. They seem to be wearing pretty quick as well, even though the car does low mileage- and we don't thrash the life out of it. To me it felt better on the worn-out Continentals that iw was on when we test drove it.
