Nissan electric car ...expensive?

in the online independent today they have an article on the new Nissan Leaf electric car.but they want to sell it at £25,000. why would they want to charge so much? it must be a lot cheaper to make, ie an electric motor as opposed to a petrol engine? That initial cost is bound to put a lot of people off, i would have thought?

Which is slightly helpful, but still means almost all old engines are significantly worse than newer ones.

You're saying that it's a good idea to pay £38000 for a car that will be used for one journey of less than 50 miles each way in a year?

A 6.1 Litre Chrysler 300C would make as much sense for that journey.

Hmm, but renting is not an instant decision. You need to look up a reasonable hire company, find & book the hire car and pick it up from somewhere. You cannot just drive off in the sunset on short notice...
