slight notchiness to the power steering on the focus - any ideas? my fist bet would be belt too tight or maybee shot fluid?

My first guess would be low fluid level, failing which I would look suspiciously at the pump.

first check would be uj couplings on the column
Low fluid or the belt needs adjusting, aye. If it's low on fluid keep an eye on it...
