Dear All,
One of the exhaust brackets on old A Reg VW POLO frame has sheared off. Before I ask the garage if it can be fixed and not wanting to appear totally inept, does any body know if a new bracket can be welded on?

Anything metal can be welded back on, how hard it is may be a different question.!! If it has snapped off, rather than rusted away then it should be fairly easy to weld back on, but much depends on what is in the way, proximity to fuel lines/tank etc. etc. So it would not be easy to say for sure without seeing it how much it is likely to cost or how easy it would be.
Where are you? This is the sort of job I do all the time.

Local VW specialist with a welding torch put on a new braket. Accepted cash. Looks OK. Thanks for your help.
