The statement you made was "Optimax is a higher octane fuel and that alone will result in better performance", which is inferring that simply using a higher octane fuel will magically liberate more horsepower from an engine. Afterwards, you add the proviso "Whether the engine management system makes good use of this is another matter". I am unclear as to what are you referring to when you say "this"? The increased power from higher octane fuel from your first statement?
