Anyone know the correct procedure for setting up panhard rod length . Having altered the ride height on my coil over spax dampers, how can I set the panhard rod to correct length. I suspect that my rear axle is not completely aligned correctly, but do not completely understand the method to use. Also, should adjustment be done with axle jacked up or hanging loose. I cannot easily do it with the vehicle under normal load - I only have jacks/axle stands. I presume the general location of the rear axle is via the trailing arms, but that some lateral location adjustment is available via rod length although I realise its main function is to control lateral movement. It is a kitcar, cortina suspension based. Any help appreciated.

Usually you set it to position the rear wheels centrally within the chassis with the suspension sittting on its wheels and a weight in the drivers seat to simulate the driver.
Then the axle will move laterally from the centre position in response to bump/droop of the suspension.
Basically, it should locate the axle in the correct position with the car at the normal ride height. However, a simple Panhard rod will cause some unwanted alteration to the geometry. To get round this, have a look at the way the SD1 one works. It would be easily enough adapted, and they come up new on Ebay.
