Peugeot Power Steering Issue

Oct 31, 2008 1 Replies

The power steering on my old faithful Peugeot 405 has decided that it would like to work when steering to the right intermittently. Steering to the left there's no problem so I guess it's not the pump.

Searching on the internet seems to point at the valves in the steering rack/box not letting the oil flow one way efficiently. Does that sound right? And does anyone think a renew of the power steering fluid make any difference? Thoughts are that the car has 140000miles on it (the last 12000 with me) and not sure when it was last changed (if ever), so new fluid might help flush any blockages in the valves. Or am I just being really hopeful?

Cheers Mark

You're being really hopefull. But thereagain it's a damn sight cheaper & easier than changing the rack.
