If it makes you jealous - my local community centre has two lanes, with full tools and jacks - no ramps tho - for £1 per hour!

That is why it is £1/hr. Anyone who wants to fix their own car tends to have sufficient tools, jack and stands. Anyone wanting to use a "pit- stop" type place wants a ramp.

Indoor plus industrial jacks, air tools, engine hoists AND two members of staff who arn't 'supposed' to help, but cheerfully lend advise and a hand or two when asked.

I have a good selection of tools for car work, I was mainly after a 4 post lift :) ... have an exhaust to do, and doing an exhaust on the floor is a pain in the arse. Also some rear bushes, and a few other odds and end before mot time.

Sadly I spent the summer fixing other things, rear brakes, front brakes, rear springs and a few other odds and sods. And I just discovered only now what this slight knocking was on braking at slower speeds a tad harsh. My wishbone bushes and ARB bushes are shot. Amaazingly its cheaper to buy a brand new wishbone with bushes installed and the ball joint is £8.50 (mk4 golf) than to mess about trying to change the bushes and balljoint. There is a saving of about £11 quid if you try and do the bushes alone but for the arse ache and no press or vice type thing (could use a g-clamp) its not worth the added ball ache really for a few quid.

That does sound tempting, one of my big problems about working outdoors is the frequently changing weather. I get auwful luck, I watch the weather and think ooo a good day is coming sir Bob and decide I'll get the tools out, the jack, stands parts etc etc and about halfway through the job sods law kicks in and a few splashes of rain, at first thinking a birdie just shat on me then realising its rain, and you've got to finish you hussle on.

I'd happilly pay a £10 an hour to work indoor with a ramp ;)
