I have recently been in a car accident where my own car was hit from behind by someone driving a rented car. There is no dispute about fault. My own insurance cover is only Third Party, Fire and Theft (with no legal cover) so I am in the position of having to pursue the claim myself. I am not daunted by the prospect, but perhaps someone could suggest the best approach to take.
Am I correct in thinking that I should initially approach the driver of the rented car and let him take it up with the car rental company, who in turn would contact their insurers? Or should I bypass the driver (with his permission) and write directly to the car rental company myself?
Any other suggestions gratefully accepted.
