Reboot Mondeo ECU ?

As I've still got this strange fault

I'mthinking of disconnecting battery and letting ECU power downcompletely and reboot. Its not the Throttle position sensor causingthis as replaced that. Just wondering if leaving battery disconnected for a few hours or a day will cause any problem beyond loosing the codes and memory for the radio. Are codes for remote keyfob safe?

If its risky I won't do it but as the next step is getting Ford to code read it and that sounds expensive, I thought I'd try this first. Its had a code read at local garage on a simple hand held reader and comes back clear. The garage are stumped and said try a Ford dealer code read.

Disconnecting the battery will reset your ECU and cause no issues and would be a good idea after replacing the TPS.

Just to add that when you reconnect it there's a set relearn routine that must be gone through.

Have a look on the Mondeo Enthusiasts Group pages.

Been looking at code readers

and most havethe option to "Reset Fault Codes" and "Reset Engine Light". Does thatmean a previous owner could have stopped a fault code showing?Hopefully, rebooting the ECU will mean faults will show up even ifpreviously reset???

no it will clear all codes, but in any case you said that none were read by the garage, if something is recurring it would be logged.

Even if they did reset it, the code should show up again if the fault reoccurs, even without rebooting the ECU.

Done the reboot/reset. Still the bloody same. Really tiring to drive. No fine control of accelerator. If you want a tiny speed adjust nothing happens when you press accelerator. Keep on pressing more and more and suddenly it decides to respond after what seems ages and then tried to zoom off. Then have to come right off accelerator to slow it. right pain. Replaces Throttle position sensor and it reves smoothly through range (tried 1000-4500 rpm) when sitting stationary.

Had enough of this Mondeo. Wish I'd spent the money on repairing the head gasket on my old Sierra.

So.. when its not moving (presumably in neutral), it's fine, but when it's moving it isn't?

Is it the same stationary but with the clutch in, in gear?

How about with the wheels in the air and spinning? (Thinking it might be an ABS issue - although AFAIK the ABS on these isn't linked to the throttle, otherwise they'd call it 'traction control'.)

Anything mechanical like a sticky throttle cable or throttle body butterfly would have the same effect when stationary. Unless something twists when moving and jams something that is fine when standing still? Are the engine mounts OK?

Check the TPS cable isn't damaged?
