Rover 200 Clutch

Hi all,

My wifes Rover 200 clutch is slipping badly - to the point that we can constantly smell it burning. So, in true British spirit, I plan to change it tomorrow .... outside ... now that the weather is turning cold.

The car is a 1.6. 99 bubble shape and the question really is .... are there any complications in the change? I have read the manual and it all looks pretty straightforward, but I'd like to know if anyone has experienced issues that I can prepare for.

I've done a few clutches in the past - Scimitar, Orion, Mondeo, so I hope that I can handle this :)

Cheers, Mark

be a walk in the park if you've done these clutches ! no real mystery to them pretty straight forward.

Thanks Reg ... yep, no problems ... except for Fedex not being able to find my house which meant spreading the change over 2 days :(

Anyway, all done with el cheapo clutch from eBay ... but the quality looked good so hope it lasts well enough. Only issue that I had was for a socket for the torx bolts on the clutch itself ... 6mm socket did the job :)

Interestingly the gearbox is SO light I was able to lift it from above by hand to install it ... never been able to do that with the older ones :)

Cheers, Mark
