Rover 620SDi oil filler pressure

Hi,

I've noticed the following behaviour on my 1997 Rover 620SDi and was wondering whether anyone could tell me whether it was normal.

When the engine is idling, there seems to be a lot of air pressure under the oil filler cap and dipstick tube - so much so that it will make a loosened oil filler cap 'jiggle' up and down, and air can be felt to be escaping from the dipstick hole. The moment that the engine revs are raised above idling speed though, the air coming out of both holes stops.

I suspect it may have something to do with the crankcase breathers. Does anyone know how I could find these on this engine?

Thanks

James

I've just checked the breather pipe - it's not blocked but seems to have a bit of oil in it. Is this normal?
