Slightly OT: Restricted selling

Currently when you buy a new car you can go to several dealers to see which will give you the best price. If a car company wanted to stop this they could tell their dealers not to give quotes to people who had already had a quote from another dealer according to their computer system.

My question is ... What law would that break?

Well, you could ask them to delete your information from their records (as is your right under the data protection rules[1]) and then if they refuse to quote again it'll be because they've been naughty.

[1] At least, I'm fairly sure it is, but I CBA to look it up.

Thanks anyway.

Apparently the above is common in the brick industry.
