speedo info on X reg Megane 1.6

Hi Just got a secondhand X reg low mileage Megane 1.6 16v (Alize) but didn't have the owners manual. While driving it home a display under the mileage counter came on that I can't figure out. It's an icon of a car followed by by the number 4.5. The number didn't alter so it's not the trip, so what could it be? I pressed the trip button and it disappeared and has not shown since. Also, I cannot find a way to trip the mileage, only the total mileage shows. Any help please? Phil
