Steering problem on new Mitsubishi

Hi, I've got a 3 month old Mitsubishi Space Star with, in my opinion, a steering problem. The main dealers that sold me the car say that wheel alignment is not covered under the warranty and at my request did a full wheel alignment and tried to charge me over £100, but after arguing I got it down to £30. However, it seems to me that they did not do anything as it is still the same as before. They say it is within specifications.

The symptoms are: the car drifts slightly to the left. The steering wheel is not central when I am going in a straight line, it is slightly anti-clockwise. If I hold the steering wheel in the straight ahead position the car will drift to the right. The steering has always felt vague.

My question is where can I go for a second opinion? Are there any reputable independent motor engineers who can check the steering and give a report into any faults, preferably in the Nottingham area, so that I can go back to the dealers with some evidence instead of my opinion?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Geoff.

As its under warranty, get yourself back to the main dealer and insist that you take the demonstrator model out for a test-drive. Compare it with how your own car feels on the same bit of road and then if the steering feel/quality is worlds apart then you've got something with which to get angry with the dealer about..... Has a mechanic from the garage driven your car as opposed to just check the telemetry?
