Suspension update.....bit of a bugger

Tried about 8 places, like Fensport and CCS. All say they cant get anyhing for a 77 Celica GT.

I took a look, and i actually have Koni on the front and Spax on the rear, i know that the chassis and susp never really changed from Gen 1to Gen 2, so that takes it upto 79/80 but the car codes given were for none UK models and nothing close.

Anyone got any ideas? Im in Sheffield if that helps......doubt it.

Im not sure how old they are and if its worth it, Spax for what they list(since triple checked and wont fit) were £60 a corner, Leda want 235+vat a corner to be made

It's the rear you want replacing.

Get the spring rating. Take the old shocker out and find one the same length, with the same fittings that works for the same spring rating or higher.

You don't need one specific to the Celica, just one that's the right length and works on the same coil/leafspring rating or higher.

Monroe are quite good for this.

I dont belive the springs are standard....

On another note i took a further look, its seems its come away where it fixes to the bodywork in the boot. i found a rubber washer and i can look down the hole left (not rusy, nice metal) and see the metal rod. Not clear enough to see if it snapped or sheered. Im too physiclaclly restricted at the moment to jack up the car etc.

So the nut that holds the damper at the top could have just come undone and poped off, meaning the fix is to get a new nut if the old un's gone missing, and bolt it back together, properly this time, cost to do so about 50p.

Yes my mind got wandering along that line, im guessing the piston has gone back down as its a good few inch below the height of the mounting plate in the boot.

If it has how do i get it back up etc?

I will grab some strong hands and report back!
