Talking of a stop gap car between the Carlton and the Audi......

I'm *very* tempted. In fact I might even end up falling in love with it and not getting the Audi. Ok, so it's not going to drive as nice as the Carlton, it won't be quick, heck it doesn't even have a nice colour, but it will have character, and loads of torque.
But knowing my luck it won't be cheap.

7 day listing and only one bid, I'd bid on it it wasn't an automatic.
I bought my current car off Ebay and apart from a few niggles with trim and the odd bit that needs sorting (heated rear window switch) etc. it's doing ok. Two owners, 36K miles etc.

That's the only thing that's slightly putting me off - the fact that it's got a fairly high mileage, but still, those old V6 engines should take it with ease. Only thing is, the fact that it's been lovingly cared for by the one owner for the last 17 years probably means that the reserve won't be all that low! My ideal would be to sell the Carlton for around £1500 (don't all laugh at once), sell the Fiesta for about £3500, buy an old tatty Mk3 Fiesta to replace the other one for less than £200, buy an old tatty Carlton to replace the other one for less than £200, and keep the rest in the bank so that when the right A6 comes up I can buy it there and then. This Granada would be a nice stop gap car, but I could only justify buying it if it was no more than £400 or so. Sadly, I reckon the reserve's probably likely to be nearer a grand or so.
Anyway, we'll see........

Well I did buy a duffer Scirocco first, an 83 for £50.00. My dad said he'd have just driven straight past it without stopping. ;-)
Stripped it for anything that will fit mine that's useable, some switches in better nick etc. Just about sold the single wiper motor and arm off the front on Ebay for £38.00 or thereabouts so got my money back anyway. :-)
I'd stick in the highest you are prepared to pay now or at least near it and try to frighten anyone else off? I did this the other week with a Manta turbo but some turnip in Germany outbid me while I was at work by £20.00 :-(

Heh! Dunno though, I'd rather wait until the last half hour - I should definitely be at home at the time, so I think I'll wait!

I knew I'd be at work and can't use the internet so lost out, only 24 made and some git takes one off to Germany.
Can't beat sitting at home watching things finish. :-)

Heh! Especially when it's something you're selling, and you watch a £500 Porsche 924 (+ spare shell + engine) become a £650 Porsche in the last 2 minutes. Ok, so I was selling it for a mate, but still well chuffed on his behalf!
