The 'phone number' box on an online form may object if you leave it blank but that doesn't stop me putting in rubbish.
I'm 80, and I am thinking of paying car tax by DD. What would the monthly payment be for zero?
You can take on my fuel bills if you like... :-)
Exactly, apathy and inertia..
But will accept cash and a view of a passport instead.
Rubbish. I never enter my phone number. Something resembling a number maybe...
I've only once had an on-line form smart enough to pick up on a random string of numbers of the correct length. I can only guess it compared the postcode to the phone area code, because entering the correct area code followed by a string of '9's was accepted.

01234 567890 must get *loads* of calls!
I have recetly come across a site where no phone number at all was accepted, no matter length or format or country. This was on a customer feedback form and the phone number was mandatory. So that's how they get full customer satisfaction, LOL.
Heh! Nice find.

Used it with a car dealer last time I changed car- the webform insisted on a phone number and did some validation, I didn't want to give my number.
It is not 'on demand', you have 12 months notice of when it is due. I have a small fleet of roadworthy vehicles, and the tax, insurance, mot spread themselves over 12 months without needing to make 12 payments every month.
I always seem to buy and sell so that everything co-incides!
SORN one of them for 2 months when the MoT runs out, then you don't have to work on them all at once.
