bearings don't usually make noises other than rumbles or whirrs. something stuck behind the disc or in the abs area is possible. Did you actually remove the pads? sometimes you can get a lip at the edge that makes funny noises. I once hunted for a funny noise at a wheel, it turned out to be a wheel trim that touched the tyre when the car was on its wheels, so when I put the car in the air it was all quiet, when I (eventually) found the fault I cut the edge of the wheel trim off.

I see, no I just took the wheel off had a poke around and oculdn't see anything out of the ordingary. I think I'll start again and strip it all down and pay more attention to the pads. If there is a lip on the pads whats the usual way to sort it out, I guess some kind of abrasive paper to chamfer it level ?

rub the lip off (if there) to check if the noise stops, but if it is there, then it probably needs new discs and pads. The wheel trim thing was a one off on something (I forget what) a long time ago, but it shows that you can sometimes concentrate on the wrong bit!

I did notice something today when turn left, or gently going left following a curve in the road it pops up and sometimes when going in a straight line at about 25/30 never at higher speeds or really low speeds.

it is almost certainly just a pad lightly rubbing, the slight difference when cornering is due to minute hub movements due to the wheel bearing.
