Vauxhall Carlton propshaft question

Do the two halves of the propshaft normally slide in and out on the centre sliding joint , or are they locked together? Normally there is a sliding joint at the gearbox end, but not apparently on Carltons. The middle joint is described as a sliding joint.

Is it possible to remove the rear half of the propshaft only, by unbolting it from the axle and presumably sliding it off the splines of the front half?

The middle joint *is* a sliding joint but you have to undo the large nut first. Just take the whole assembly off. It is a piece of....sorry it's dead easy. Get a Haynes manual or someone more knowledgeable. JB
