Hi all
Light cmes on for a few seconds once in a while.
Once it stayed on on for long enough to pull in to start checking but went out again as the car was stoped and has not come on for days
What sort of the things does this light come on for and how to get it checked?
Car is a 16 valve 2 litre M plate 90k

Ah, the famous Vauxhall orange light of randomness. Say after me:
"They all do that, sir."
Unless it comes on and stays on and the car doesn't feel any different then there's probably nothing wrong.
Cam sensor is the favourite with Vauxhalls; they seem to fail with amazing regularity. Stock service item, apparently.....
Had the same problem on a 1.8 Vectra...would come on bang on 5 miles of driving, but not affect anything. Even drove it 100 miles with the light on till found a vauxhall garage which was open...left it running in the car park so he could plug his tester in...Still no fault found even with the light on!
I have an astra which used to do that. the cause was the compressed wire O ring between the exhaust manifold & the downpipie, it was slightly worn & obviously leaking enough to affect the readings from the oxygen sensor. cost about 3 quid to fix
