I need the ECU unit for my Volvo 460. Can anyone suggest a breakers etc., where I might find one?

Thanks.

I have used RJK breakers in the past, they are (or were) specialising in Volvo.

Good, isn't it? Were they cheap enough?

I think so! A brand new ECU from a Volvo main dealer is £605.12. I got four replies to my query, the cheapest of which is £40 +£9.95 postage for a used ECU with a 90 day warranty. I'll take it : )

The Volvo dealer wants another £123 for diagnosing the fault. I don't know how much they charge for labour these days, but I can't imagine why it cost so much to diagnose a major fault such as this. I'd have thought that as there was no spark and no fuel flow, with their experience, they would have immediately suspected the ECU. But I'm no expert.

Thanks again Si.

Eh?? Why the f*ck did they email you then, I wonder? I didn't get any emails from them - just phone calls. Perhaps your ECU is a bit on the "hen's teeth" side?

I gave them the part number, and typically of my luck, they all had none in stock.

Looks that way! However, we received a phonecall from a breaker in Nottingham. He has the correct one in stock for £148. Maybe they only cost £40 when they have none in stock.
