It was always the easiest solution with minis.
Its a shame its not a volkswaggon as i could have got Geoff Capes over (rember that tv ad)
Having perforated an ear drum from weld spatter, I now use a chrome leather welders jacket and a welders cotton balaclava if welding on the side or upside down.
Back in the 70s it was common to remove the battery and tip the car on its side, there was a rocking chair like device that was bolted to the wheel hubs, two people could then roll a small car through 90 degrees.
cradles are still easily available, see frosts for example.

Still available - see Practical Classics, etc. Might cost as much as the car, though.
I agree about the prices, I only pointed to them for a picture !!

I had the fortune to be _given_ one, a heavy-duy affair designed for A60s, but it's not difficult to fit it to most other classics.
