I was in our local Asda at THREE THIRTY AM today and there wandering around the store was mum and dad with a no older than three year old child in a buggy screaming its head off would you believe . I went to the store at that time to compleatly avoid the little bastards during the day but now it seems there is NO escape from them .

You are wrong I will always try and park in a BB space for the simple reason I would not like to think that a person with a BB was taking up a space that I if I where able bodied could have used likewise when I see a car not showing BB in a BB space I am straight to the customer service desk .

I get the impression that most people in this country are dog haters I would love to go walking in the local Tesco with a black panther on a lead or the 13 foot Burmese python that I used to have wrapped round my shoulders !! :))) .

There's always somebody who tries to be a smart arse. However, the chain is called Tesco, but I was referring to it in the possesive form, which I believe to be Tescos, not Tesco's, as it is an impersonal, or whatever the linguistically correct description is.

Soem places think making it a social activity makes them more money, but while that works in places designed for it (Meadowhall, Bluewater, etc), there's no sign the average supermarket around here thinks of it in that way.

The value of the damage can vary over time. If a scratch is deep enough, it can lead to corrosion, cauing for a far higher repair bill, and rendering the car unusable till the repair is made. That deprives the owner of the use of the car, and costs associated, never mind the value of the car itself. A dent might lead to the same problems, should it cause the paint to flake. The structure of a panel might also be weakend by a dent, as it could result in flexing in a manner it wasn't designed for. This might not happen at all quickly, it might only show as a serious problem years afterwards, the same as the scratch > rot scenario.

You also need the means to find, habitalise or maintain the shelter, and the means to attain the food. This requires "things". You then often need a way of making these things, which requires more things. And before you know it, your back to basics lifestyle is on a technological crusade, like it or not.

I've done that before, but only because when I use a blue badge, it's for my mother-in-law who has lost both legs. The extra space afforded by the disabled space allows me to open the door fully so I can lift her into her wheel chair, and guarantees that I can do the same in reverse when we come back out of the shop.

Well I think that mother&brat spaces should all be turned into disabled spaces you have two choices regarding babies to have or not to have them and to take or not to take them to the supermarket. Disabled people have no choice their health brakes down in some way and they are stuck with it and have no control over it either .

Hence the scene at airport check-in where they ask for parents and children to come forward first. Cue for ma and pa and several hulking great louts and assorted aunts/uncles/cousins/grandparents to step forward, all carrying backpacks that Sherpa porters would baulk at...

Ha! If only it did guarantee it. We parked in a blue badge space in France and some (non bagde displaying) berk shoved his/her car between ours and the one next to it 'cos the gap was just big enough. Sadly his wing mirror fell off while getting the wife into the car.

That is from the invasion of your space, not from the any material loss. You'd feel the same even if they had only left a note, using their own paper and pen saying 'kilroy woz ere', possibly worse.

Why is "I had to pop out to Tescos earlier today." possessive?

I know we all say it but I don't think it's technically correct. Where you went is called Tesco. You don't say "I had to pop out to the garages earlier today." you say "I had to pop out to the garage earlier today.".

How ever my english, especially relating to the technicalities, is crap but in the interests of furthering my knowledge I'd like to know.

The 2.4 children is the major source of money for the big supermarkets, pensioners may be catching up in numbers but they don't have the income and generally speaking only one or two mouths to feed per household. Singles just one mouth. Those extra mouths make a very big difference to the size of the grocery bill.
