Where to buy Cat Bypass Pipe - Primera

Anyone know where I can get one of these for a 1997 2.0 Primera?

Had no luck searching the net or locally (Swindon).

Thank you.

You probably already know, but they are illegal for use on the road, and probably wont add much power increase over the stock setup.

No idea for that specific car off the shelf, but I've used longlife exhausts (about 5 or 6 places around the UK) to fabircate me a stainless single silencer pipe and they did an excellent job. It was £400 for whole lot from the engine to the tail piece.

If you could get an old one from the scrap yard it wouldn't be too difficult to weld in a straight piece of pipe between the connection header thingies for peanuts although they may want to charge an arm and a leg for a cat pipe knowing how much they cost new!

Sorry but I have to disagree. Removing a cat and replacing with a piece of pipe on it's own is not illegal (ignoring insurance and other reasons). Not meeting emmisions laws however is.

How are you going to get it through the next MOT?

Errr, but it is impossible to meet these emission levels without a CAT........... So correction accepted, but the information is still correct. And you cannot ignore the insurance, because they would not insure the car with this modification, it's as simple as that, so he could not drive the car legally.

So just brag about it. Nobody's going to crawl underneath to check. This way you save money too. And all your mates will say " Yeah, they're great aren't they? Fancy another pint?"

Isn't it true that 91 XJS's found an extra 25bhp when the cats were removed? I think many Vauxhall / Opel "big six" owners do this with their pre-92 cars too.

Perhaps something to do with cats being bolted on by manufacturers in the early days of the system, and the fuelling systems not really being mature or optimised enough?

I think most of the guys now doing this cat-bypass thingy employ a quick release system (or at least brass nuts / copper grease) to swap back to cat just before the MoT.
